Mission: Episode 2 "Demons of the Past, Friends of the Future" - USS Halo
Location: Star Base 113
Timeline: Present

Commander Alesha Veyra was waiting for Mrs. Eska, the new Medical Officer assigned to the USS Halo. Since the ship was currently on a mission away from its station, Admiral Reacher had requested that Commander Veyra meet Mrs. Eska at the docking port to help her get settled and updated.

Eska was strolling down the umbilical, because she was still trying to clear her sight from a light flash from a passing worker bee. She barely got to the end and stepped to the side so others could pass without tripping over her. She tilted her head as she began to use her more sensitive hearing to map her passage to the check-in area, as her eyes readjusted to the light.

Veyra quickly noticed Eska, who seemed a bit disoriented, possibly blinded for a second by a flash of light. She walked up to Eska. "Lt. Eska? Commander Alesha Veyra, I have been asked by Admiral Reacher to help you get situated here on Star Base 113 till the Halo returns."

"Yes, ma'am," Eska said in her normally slow speech. "Where is the Halo now?"

"On a 3 Week Scientific Mission with the New Romulan Friends," Alesha turned and motioned for her to follow.

"Yes, ma'am," Eska said, following. She was glad she could see a little better in the light.

"Do you have any questions for me as of right now?" Asked Veyra.

Eska pondered the questions. "Will I be bunking with others?" She asked slowly. "Many don't like the light I prefer, or the small setup for underside mushrooms I use." She stated that she used the Novan term for 'underground'.

"With your rank and current temporary assignment to the Starbase, you get your own. Only Ensigns and low-ranking enlisted have to share bunks. So you're good," Alesha told her.

Eska reached up to the pips on her collar. She was still surprised that she was given the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade, instead of that of an Ensign. She knew that she wasn't qualified, as she had barely passed the tests, despite taking an extra year. "I still don't understand how rank is obtained." She stated as she started to slip more into Novan.

"All Doctors Start at Lieutenant Junior Grade, No Matter What Background they have. Admiral Reacher Made sure of that. As of right now, it's only for officers assigned to 113 and the Hal," Veyra stated.

Eska still rubbed at the pips at her neck. She didn't understand what the Admiral was thinking, but she wasn't going to push it, as she got quarters to herself. She did wonder if she was up for the further responsibilities.


"Have you sent your Quarters location to your PADD. I will see you at the meeting." With that, the Commander strode off.
