| Personal History | Early Life (2377–2395) Katie was born on a small ranch in Texas on March 28th, 2377. As she grew up, she was always outside and fascinated by the stars and space. When she entered middle school, she began learning about Starfleet and other important moments in Federation history. By the end of middle school (2384–2391), she was determined to join Starfleet due to the rising tensions between the Federation and the Romulans. Her determination only grew stronger after the events of 2385 and 2387, when the Synths attacked and destroyed Utopia Planitia, and the Romulan supernova occurred. During high school (2391–2395), the Federation was relatively at peace—but Katie knew that in Starfleet, peace never lasted long. She joined the track team to prepare for Starfleet Academy. Her high school teachers and coaches helped her refine her career path, guiding her toward Criminal Justice. Starfleet Academy and Training Cruise (2395–2400) When Katie entered the Academy, discussions among cadets frequently revolved around raids on trading ships between the Federation and the Cardassian Union. Some cadets speculated that they might be fast-tracked due to these conflicts. Senior cadets who had experienced the attacks in 2385 and 2387 were still benefiting from accelerated advancement.
